We understand that many people will choose to spend a week or more in Brazil with the wedding being part of a holiday. We plan to be in Rio for two weeks, from the weekend before the wedding until the weekend afterwards. We will be organising a few events in the week leading up to the wedding so we can enjoy time together.
Rio is a beautiful vibrant city with loads of things to do. Below are our top recommended activities which you may like to enjoy during your time there. We can provide recommendations on tours though all are available through Viator and Airbnb Experiences.
- Visit Christ the Redeemer, the most famous landmark in South America.
- Ride the cable car up to Sugar Loaf Mountain and see amazing views of the city, watch out for the little monkeys stealing your food!
- Hike in the beautiful Tijuca National Park where you can see an abundance of wildlife, explore the forest and caves and take a dip in the refreshing waterfalls.
- Beach Time! Rio is blessed with beautiful beaches with clean, clear water. You can even learn to surf!
- Take a tour of a ‘favela’ to see this incredible side of the city (you must take a tour and not go into the favela by yourself).
- Make time to party with a few Caipirinhas – a cocktail made with fresh lime juice, sugar and cachaça.
- Catch a football game at the world famous Maracanã stadium and see one of Rio’s home teams – Flamengo, Botafogo, Fluminense or Vasco da Gama.
Further afield we would recommend visiting Iguazu Falls, The Pantanal, Bonito, Salvador or Fernando de Noronha island (one of the most beautiful beaches in the world).
